My Resume Overview
Welcome to the Resume section of CleverPig.org! There are two types of written documents you can use to tell other people about yourself and your sailing campaign. The first is a sailing resume, similar to the personal resume you use when applying for a job. The second is a sailing biography with descriptive paragraphs about yourself. Here are four ways you can add these items to your web page on CleverPig.org.
1. Upload Your Existing Resume/Biography
If you have already created a resume in another application, you can upload a copy of it (as a pdf or a Word document) to your web page. To do this, go to Upload/Link to Resume by clicking here.
2. Link To Your Existing Resume/Biography
If you have already posted your resume online at another site, you can add a link to it on your CleverPig web page. To do this, go to Upload/Link to Resume by clicking here.
3. Create A New Sailing Resume
A sailing resume is a formatted document with a relatively specific layout. While there are many different ways to organize a sailing resume, most begin with a summary that explains your sailing campaign plus some information about your background and goals. The next section is typically a list of your significant achievements, or sailing highlights.

The body of the resume is a list of your sailing accomplishments, organized by year. List these with the most recent on top. Every accomplishment should include your finish place, the name of the event, the class of boat you sailed, the location of the event and your position on the boat (if applicable). A resume should never be longer than two pages, so it may be better to include fewer, more important entries in your resume than a long list of things that aren’t very significant.
It’s a good idea to end your resume with a section that tells about your skills and interests outside of sailing. Include your education degrees, jobs, languages spoken, special abilities, interests, skills, etc. This section gives the reader an idea about who you are and hopefully gives them a way to connect with you. Don’t forget to include contact information somewhere on the page.

4. Create A New Sailing Biography
A sailing biography is, simply, a descriptive written resume in paragraph form. It often begins by telling the reader how, when and where you started sailing. Your second paragraph might explain how you chose the boat you are ‘campaigning’, any immediate successes or learning curves you have had, and your current goals. Other paragraphs could highlight your sailing successes and relevant personal, non-sailing information. It works well to conclude with a sentence or two that returns to your current sailing goals and how you are working to achieve them.

Another formula for a biography is to begin by giving your personal information – where you live, what school you attend or graduated from (and the year), and the details of how, when, and where you started sailing. The next paragraphs include the highlights of your sailing and athletic careers, followed by a concluding paragraph stating your sailing goals and upcoming events that will help you achieve your goals.
