Projects

The Southport Sailing Foundation is continually working on a number of different projects. Here is what we currently have in the works:

CleverPig website. If you are reading this, then obviously you found our new website. This project was recently launched after a year and a half of development. We intend to keep adding to and improving this site, so if you have any suggestions please let us know.

• Grants. We have started awarding grants to sailors to support their campaigns, and we intend to continue this as fundraising permits.

• Safety. We may award grants to organizations as well. A recent award went to the Storm Trysail Club in support of their Safety-at-Sea seminars for youth sailors. We believe safety is an important element of sailing and it’s part of our mission.
- Smallboat Safety: A great deal of work has been done on safety for big boat sailors, but relatively little on safe sailing in one-designs. We are hoping to carry out and publicize a study of smallboat safety issues, including capsize recovery, trapeze harness dangers, hypothermia and so on. If you know of anyone who would be interested in funding this study, please let us know.
