TRAINING SITES
If you live in a part of the US where it’s cold in the winter, you know how hard it is to continue your training all year long. Northern sailors need some venues in Florida or California (or some other warm place) where they can go sailing when there’s snow at home. Here is a list of places that allow sailors and coaches to come and practice. These places may also offer boat storage in between training sessions or regattas, and coach boat rentals. To talk about setting up a training session, call the listed contact person well in advance.

US Sailing Center of Martin County (USSCMC)
The US SAILING Center of Martin County (USSCMC) is committed to broadening the base of the sport of sailing through dedicated, affordable, community sailing programs for youth and adults, and providing support for the development of future champions and Olympic racers. They are usually willing to let people train for little or no cost, and competitors are able to store boats on site between events for a reasonable fee. Because of the shallow water at this venue, it is appropriate for smaller dinghies such as Optimists, 420s, Lasers, sailboards and Vanguard 15s. The winter months are relatively warm and windy.
