Welcome to the new Clever Pig
Welcome to the new Clever Pig! My name is Chris Love and I am the editor and webmaster of Clever Pig. This website was started by Southport Sailing Foundation in 2007 to help sailors better organize their sailing campaigns. Now, US Sailing oversees the website, with support from our partner foundations, Chicago Match Race Center, Sailing Foundation of New York, Junior Sailing Association of Long Island Sound (JSA of LIS), Southport Sailing Foundation, and California International Sailing Association (CISA).
We have been working hard to bring you this new version of Clever Pig and we’re proud to unveil it! With a brand new design and layout, updated dynamic content, and a new structure of the old site’s best features, we think you’re going to love the new Clever Pig.
So what is Clever Pig all about? Just as it was from the beginning, Clever Pig is a resource for racing sailors who want to take their sailing to the next level. For some, this means starting and organizing Olympic campaigns. For others, it’s just about connecting with the best sailors, coaches and regattas to improve their sailing. Whatever level your level, whatever your goals, we are here to help. Here are some of our best features:
- Coach finder – Connect with top sailing coaches from around the country and around the world
- News and articles – Quickly find information relevant to you, from sailors, coaches and US Sailing Team Sperry Top-Sider
- Information about grants and a list of foundations who offer grants
- Campaign 101 – the amazing tomb of info written by Dave Dellenbaugh, now in downloadable PDF form!
- Classes database – for information about Olympic classes and all the most competitive racing classes today
If you’re a long-time fan of Clever Pig, you may be wondering, what happened to all the other stuff? Well, after careful consideration, we have decided to stop hosting campaign websites, resumes and budgets here on the site. There are lots of great tools available on the web for sailors to build their own sites for free. We’ll be offering tips on using these tools, but don’t want to try to keep up with them on web technology. There are several other features that were live or in development on the old site, that we’re still working on:
- Venues – Information about racing venues from coast to coast
- Crew finder – Connect with a partner for a regatta, a season or a lifetime!
If you’re looking for your old account, or some other feature on the old site, it’s all available for a limited time at old.cleverpig.org. All user pages can be accessed by typing “old” followed by a period before the URL. ACCESS TO THE OLD SITE HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED.
So keep coming back for new updates, features, and great articles from around the racing community. Have we missed something? Let me know and I’ll see if I can add it to the site!
All the best,
Chris
